John Spearman (Jake to his friends and colleagues) is a Latin teacher and coach at a prestigious New England boarding school. Before joining the world of academia, Spearman had been a sales and marketing executive for 25 years. In 2006, he walked away from an executive position with a Fortune 500 company to return to school. He earned his MA in Latin in a calendar year and began teaching thereafter. He enjoys life at a boarding school, with coaching sub-Varsity-level Football his favorite assignment. He decided to write for publication when his wife suggested he find a hobby. The proud father of four boys, he lives with his wife (and five dogs) in coastal Maine when school is not in session.
